Roller Garage Doors or Steel Garage Doors?

It’s great to have plenty of choice of garage door materials, but it can be a struggle to decide which is best for your home. We compare the advantages and disadvantages of our roller garage doors against traditional steel garage doors - the most popular options.

Aluminium Roller Garage Doors

Aluminium roller garage doors are known for being the very best option available with one of the biggest benefits being that they are exceptional when it comes to maximising space. The door itself folds into a compact box on the ceiling which provides considerably more storage space and far less obstruction. In addition, smooth opening motion add an air of sophistication and grandeur. Aesthetically, roller garage doors can also come in various colours, offering seamless integration into a property and enhance a garage visually. As a material, aluminium improves insulation and also makes the door more secure. Roller garage doors are also great in terms of insulation, and can help keep your building secure as the durability of the aluminium makes it difficult to breach.

Traditional Steel Doors

There are a number of downsides to installing steel garage doors. Unlike aluminium, they are not natural insulators. If you require insulation, then a sectional version would be your best option, however this comes at a much higher price. They can also be quite noisy when opening or closing and look rather commercial rather than provide a homely, sophisticated look to your property.

They’re also far less durable and heavier than aluminium doors and susceptible to rust. They require far more maintenance and regular cleaning to to avoid this from occurring.
